Who we are

The Open Kitchen ("we", "us") is an open play session manager for pickleball, operated by Clyde Villaruz and available at theopenkitchen.app. Questions about this policy: use our contact page.

What we collect

  • Account information — when you create an account: your name, email address, optional nickname and avatar, and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
  • Session and game data — sessions you host or join, check-in names, games, scores, wins/losses, and queue timing. Guests who join a session by link provide only a display name; no account or email is required.
  • Reclub imports — if a host attaches a Reclub event link, we read the publicly visible attendee first names from that public page to fill the session's check-in list. We store only those display names.
  • Technical basics — our hosting providers log standard request data (IP address, browser type) to run and secure the service. We use local storage on your device to remember things like your check-in for a session; we do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

  • To run sessions: queues, matchups, live boards, standings, history, and recaps.
  • To operate your account and, if you subscribe, to manage your subscription.
  • To secure the service and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

What others can see

Open play is social by design: your display name, avatar, and game results in a session are visible to everyone with that session's link — including its public queue page, TV board, and shareable recap image. Use a nickname if you prefer not to show your real name.

Service providers

We rely on Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and Google (optional sign-in). Each processes data only to provide their service to us. If we add subscription billing, payments will be handled by a dedicated payment provider — we never see or store your card details.

Retention and deletion

Session history is kept so hosts and players can review past games. You can ask us to delete your account and its associated data at any time via the contact page, and we will action it within 30 days.

Children

The Open Kitchen is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
