How to use The Open Kitchen

From parking lot to first serve in under a minute — here's the whole flow for organizers, and what your players see on their phones.

Running a session

1 · Start a session

Three ways: Start now (pick doubles or singles, court count, and a play style), Schedule for later (set a date, time, and location, then share the invite link to collect RSVPs — it starts itself on time), or Import a play from Reclub (paste your event link; the name, schedule, location, and every confirmed player come across in one tap).

2 · Share the link or QR

The console has a Share link and a QR code. Players open it on their phone and check in with just a name — no accounts, no app store. You can also add players yourself with Add player.

3 · Fill the courts

Tap Auto fill and balanced matchups come off the bench onto free courts. Leave "Keep courts busy" on and the next game is staged automatically every time a court opens. The bench always shows who plays next, so nobody hovers over the organizer asking.

4 · Record results

When a game ends, enter the score (or just the winner, depending on the play style). Winners and losers rotate to the back of the queue and the next group goes on. Americano and Mexicano rank by points; King of the Court moves winners up.

5 · Put it on a TV

Open Board from the console on any TV or laptop at the venue. It shows live courts, who is up next, and a QR to join — updating by itself.

6 · End with a recap

Ending the session generates a shareable recap image with standings and stats for the group chat. Past sessions live in History, where you can re-share any recap.

The Reclub shortcut

Already collecting RSVPs on Reclub? Paste your event link in the Import a play from Reclub tab when creating a session (or add it later in the console settings). Every confirmed player is checked in automatically, late RSVPs appear on their own, and cancellations drop off the queue — the mirror refreshes itself the whole session. If the event's start time is still ahead, it schedules; if it has passed, it starts instantly.

For your players

Check in

Open the link or scan the QR, type your name, and you are in the queue. No account needed.

Know your turn

Your page shows the courts, and the queue grouped into upcoming games — you can see exactly who you play with and when. Your game is highlighted.

Need a break?

Tap Rest to sit out a few games without losing your spot, or Leave when you head home. Come back any time with the same link.

Session full?

If the organizer capped the session you join a waitlist — the first in line is checked in automatically when a spot frees.

How the rotation stays fair

Whoever has been off the court longest plays next — after a game you rejoin at the back, and a late arrival waits their turn like everyone else instead of jumping the queue to "catch up". Teams are balanced by rating and the matchmaker avoids giving you the same partner twice in a row.
